We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first wiki, the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility in Open Research Network (IDEA Network) on Wikipedia. This marks a milestone in our commitment to fostering a more inclusive and diverse academic community.

As we celebrate this, we are also gearing up for an exciting event: the 19th edition of Wikimania, which will take place in Katowice, Poland, from August 7–10. We are proud to participate in this global gathering of Wikimedia enthusiasts, researchers, and educators.

One of the highlights of our participation will be our workshop titled “Demolishing the Ivory Towers: Bringing Universities and Open Knowledge Communities Together.” This workshop aims to explore new perspectives on Wiki collaborations with universities, focusing on research and the integration of open knowledge principles.

About the Workshop: Educational Wiki collaboration with universities isn’t new. However, this workshop will offer a fresh perspective on Wiki collaborations through the lens of research, using the IDEA Network at the University of St Andrews as a case study. We will delve into the challenges and opportunities of integrating open knowledge within academic institutions, emphasizing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA).

The workshop will be suitable for anyone with knowledge, experience, or interest in implementing Wiki research projects within educational institutions. This includes individuals involved in knowledge exchange, teaching, or research. Attendees will gain valuable insights and practical strategies to foster successful Wiki collaborations in their own institutions.

Why Attend?

  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded individuals and institutions committed to open knowledge and educational collaboration.
  • Innovative Perspectives: Gain new insights into the intersection of academia and open knowledge communities.
  • Practical Strategies: Learn how to implement and sustain Wiki research projects in educational settings.
